It's A Very Simple Question, Nancy

At a press conference celebrating the anniversary of Roe v Wade, a reporter asked Nancy Pelosi a very simple question (See here and here):  Is an unborn child after 20 weeks of pregnancy a human being or not? . She refused to answer the question, and instead rambled on about women's reproductive rights, and her opposition to a bill before the House that would place any conditions on abortions. When she finished, he asked the question again, and Ms Pelosi again refused to answer it.

Some possible reasons she would refuse to answer the question are:

   1. She doesn't understand the question

   2. She understands the question but she knows it's a trap set by evil conservatives who want to enslave women.

   3. She feels that people under 3 feet tall aren't human because they can't reach the levers in voting booths

   4. Labeling people "human" is a vicious kind of species bias. Everyone has the right to decide for themselves whether they're human or not.

   5. Unborn babies can't be human because they have no fashion sense whatsoever.

   6. Unborn babies are more like starfish or groundhogs or something. They contribute nothing to society and did I mention they can't vote?

   7. It's interesting that fully half the time, men are the ones who ask this kind of question. Men can't seem to accept the fact that only a woman can create a human being. Of course, that's not to say that it is a human being, until it's designated as such by the State.

Checkin Out His Duckie

President Obama said he was too busy to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu last week, but apparently had the time to do an interview with somebody best known for making a video that involved sitting in a bathtub filled with froot loops.  I find this kind of childish petulance directed at a head of state hard to believe, even for him.  Sometimes if you make a stupid video you get blamed for things like Benghazi, and sometimes you get to interview the President.  Just depends on what he's hiding from that particular day.

Best One I've Heard Today

The Iranian Ambassador to the UN had just finished giving a speech and walked
out into the lobby of the convention center where he was introduced to a U.S. Marine General.

As they talked, the Iranian said, "I have just one question about what I have seen in America ."

The General said, "Well, anything I can do to help?"

The Iranian whispered, "My son watches this show called Star Trek and in it there is...Kirk who is Canadian, Chekhov who is Russian, Scotty who is Scottish, Uhura who is black, and Sulu who is Japanese, but there are  NO Muslims. My son is very upset and doesn't understand why there aren't any Iranians, Iraqis, Afghans, Egyptians, Palestinians, Saudis, Syrians, or Pakistanis on Star Trek."

The General leaned toward the Iranian Ambassador, and whispered in his ear, "That's because it takes place in the future..."

2015 Quote Of The Year Winner Announced

The world's elite showed up last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to help fight the great scourge that is Man Caused Global Warming.  They turned out in force, in 1700 private jets.    In response to this monumental hypocrisy, Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit offered this gem:

“I’ll believe it’s a crisis when the people who tell me it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis.”

As far as I'm concerned, the 2015 Quote Of The Year race is over, and it's only January.

"Smoking Ruins And Crying Widows"

In 2012 President Obama said "the future must not belong to those who insult the prophet of Islam."  Like it or not, until something changes, he has the power to define that future.  As always, his priorities have more to do with the accommodation and appeasement of those who are causing the problem, and less to do with America's interests.  Policy is being made by him, and by people who think like him.  They want us to accept this kind of thinking.  It explains, among other things, why we are leaving Afghanistan with no resolution, at the cost of 2,144 American lives, 73% of which occured since Obama took office.

The future has arrived, and the question is whether we will remain free men or whether we will be on our knees at the mercy of a global caliphate.  Apparently the latter is an acceptable choice to leftists, just so long as we are nice to each other.  People who think like this don't deserve to live in a free society.  If we allow it to continue, none of us will.

The left has fallen prey to their own deception.  Political Correctness is a weapon devised to silence opposition to their utopian ideas, but their cowardice in the face of Islamic terrorism has brought them to apply it to their own thinking.  It offers them a way to rationalize their willingness to get on their knees in the face of the very thing that will put an end to their right to have any ideas about anything, utopian or not, if it does not conform to the ideology of Islam.  The absurdity of this appears to be lost on the left, but it is not lost on the people who have declared war on us.  "Peace at any cost" is a suicidal mirage.  In the face of an aggressive enemy, it guarantees an opposite reaction.

The left has learned nothing from history.  The appeasement by Neville Chamberlain, and the complicity of Vichy France allowed the Nazis to expand into Western Europe.  It took the Normandy invasion, led by the United States Military under General Eisenhower, with the full support of the American People to push them back into Germany.  Islamist terrorism poses no less a threat to the Western world, but we find ourselves compromised by the leftists in America today.

Right now France, in exchange for their softness on Islamists,  is being torn apart, and only people who are willfully blind refuse to see that their PC cowardice insures that the nightmare will be here soon.  France as we know it will cease to exist without a focused military response by the leaders of the free world.

On January 9th, Lt Col Ralph Peters presented the only answer to the problem that is based in reality.  He said:
"in a war you fight to win, you don’t worry about political correctness. The jihadis will do anything to win, and we’re worried about our table manners.”
Some points he made:

    1.  First, accept that you are in a war.
    2.  Name the enemy:  Islamist Terrorists
    3.  Get the lawyers and the policymakers off the battlefield
    4.  You go where the terrorists are and you kill them.
    5.  You don't send American troops into a war you don't intend to win.
    6.  Be as merciless as the enemy.  If you're not willing to do that, he will win.

Cause And Effect, A Hard One For Liberals

Liberals are a little weak on the concept of Cause and Effect.  In their minds, Cops cause crime, guns cause shootings, unborn babies cause abortions, and capitalism causes oppression, which causes poverty, which causes hopelessness, which causes street gangs, random shootings, drug use, looting, and general stupidity.

In the case of "climate change" it works something like this:

    • People invented technology and capitalism
    • Technology and capitalism created the internal combustion engine
    • Internal combustion engines cause global climate change
    • Snow is evidence of global climate change
    • Snowplows use internal combustion engines
    • Anytime it snows, snowplows always show up.

Therefore:

Snowplows cause snowstorms

I Think It Will Be A Good Year

I feel good about 2015, in spite of some things that give the left a feeling of progress as they move "Forward".  The left feels emboldened by the ground they have taken in their efforts to foment violence among us, by their efforts to disable America's  military, their assault on Christianity, and by the persistence of the media who willingly abet their fictions.  They count the mayhem perpetrated on this country's healthcare industry, on it's sovereign borders, the abject surrender of the RINOs in congress, and Obama's "pen and phone" approach to Constitutional constraints as signs of progress.  They have successfully used the IRS, the EPA, the Justice Department, and other agencies as weapons against us.

Still, the left appears frantic in the pursuit of their "transformation" of this country.   The increasingly brazen lies (for instance, here) speak of desperation.  When caught in the open, they are forced to resort to absurdities, as we saw with Jonathan Gruber's testimony before congress, and Nancy Pelosi's bizarre contortions about the 2014 elections.

The left has declared war on America, and they consider anyone who disagrees with their goals to be the enemy.  There are a few things the left's hubris has led them to overlook, however, as they pursue that war.  Sun Tzu, a Chinese military leader and philosopher, wrote The Art Of War sometime in the sixth century AD.  Maybe they would benefit from rereading it, assuming they ever even heard of it.  In it he said,

"Know your enemy and know yourself…"

It has become increasingly apparent that they don't know much about either one.  We are a tolerant, patient people who don't seek a fight, but we have yet to run from one.  They mistake the passivity of our protestations as weakness.  But patience has it's limits, and I firmly believe that, if we are left with no alternative, we will ultimately put an end to this assault by any means necessary.

The problem the left has, is that in spite of their efforts, they're losing ground with the people who supported them. This country was founded by the self reliance of individuals, and growing numbers of us refuse to give up our right to think for ourselves.  The people in this country know a pile of bullshit when they smell it.  No matter who is hiding behind it.
